SOUL FIRE FARM CENTER
The client’s concept for this program is based on community care and wellness. Providing a space for people to get educated on wellbeing is very important to the client. Using the land as the primary tool for community care, the building is centered around two ideas being: making and healing. The building provides an open floor plan design that incorporates open spaces throughout for natural sunlight to access. The commercial kitchen is the heart of the building located in the center. It is a multipurpose kitchen where diverse communities are given the opportunity to get educated on food. The classroom is also an important space in the building where people are able to do different mindful activities such as yoga as well as provide a calm and relaxing environment to help heal the body. There is also a deck that will be used as a place for people to enjoy the outdoors and relax. The building is approximately 1600sq feet and is designed with both natural and modern characteristics that connect the building with the land by using natural stone and wood siding. The overall design of the building resembles a half-hexagon which mimics the idea of arms extending and coming together in the center where all the making and healing process begins.
